Alton W. Matz, 81, a farmer and cattleman, died Monday, April 13, at his home in Lincolnville.
A family service will be held at Grant Township Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion with pastor Phil Smith officiating.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion.
He was born Oct. 15, 1927, to Fred and Mabel (Olson) Matz in Lyons. On Feb. 18, 1951, he was married to Evelyn D. Hiebert, who survives.
Other survivors include his sons Steve and Janet and Brad and Sharon, all of Lincolnville; daughters Barbara and Hal Hoskinson of Topeka and Sheryl and John Lance of Walton; sisters Margaret and Marlon Steinert of Raytown, Mo., Jean and James McCallister of Des Moines, Iowa, and Phyllis and Marion Schafer of Canon City, Colo.; brother-in-law Roland Plenert of McPherson; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial funds have been established for Lincolnville United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association and can be sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS 66861.
