Centre girls advance to state with sub-state title

The Centre girls earned a berth in the Class 1A-Division I state tournament Saturday with a 35-32 win over Fairfield in the finals of the sub-state tournament at Goessel.

Centre led 8-7 after one quarter, but trailed 18-17 at the half. The Cougars were down 28-26 after three quarters. but outscored Fairfield 9-4 in the final frame. Shelby Makovec scored five points in the decisive quarter.

Beka Basore led Centre with 12 points as the Cougars move on with a 14-9 season record.
