With a 39-19 win Monday night at Hope, the Goessel High School girls
basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of the 1A Southeast
Regional tournament at Burrton, but lost to top-seeded Hutchinson
Central Christian 54-31 Thursday. With a first-round bye, the
top-seeded Goessel boys will meet Hutchinson Central Christian at 7:30
p.m. tonight (Feb. 27).
The Centre girls defeated Marais des Cygnes Valley 46-20 Monday to
set up a meeting with Waverly Thursday at Madison. Waverly ended the
Centre boys season 71-46 Monday night.
Canton-Galva and Peabody-Burns are bound for the Berean Academy 2A
substate tournament. The PBHS boys, seeded No. 4, host Moundridge 7
p.m. Monday. The CGHS boys visit No. 1 seeded Berean 7 p.m. Monday. The
PBHS girls visit Moundridge at 7 p.m. Tuesday, while the CGHS girls
visit Kingsley at the same time.
