Randall Claassen, a Hillsboro family physician, is hosting Kyle Schulz, a medical student from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, for four weeks, Oct. 22 through Nov. 17, as part of a community-based educational experience.
Marion Middle School has released its honor roll for the first quarter of the 2007-08 school year.
To be named to the high honor roll, a student needs a grade-point average between 4.0 and 3.75. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA.
To be named to the regular honor roll, a GPA of 3.74 and 3.5 is required.
To be named to the honorable mention honor roll, students need a GPA between 3.49 and 3.0.

Family volunteers from North Carolina were hard at work last week helping Plato Shepherd (foreground), pastor of the Cottonwood Valley Independent Baptist Church, renovate its new meetingplace. The young church recently acquired the building on the 100 block of C Street, which was originally built as a drive-in restaurant and most recently housed Bartel Insurance Agency. Shepherd said he expected more volunteers to arrive later in the week from North Carolina, where he originates. His assistants pictured here include his son and grandsons.
