Good luck at state

It isn’t every year that Marion County has teams from two schools competing in the Kansas state basketball tournaments. This week area high school hoops fans will double their fun as the Hillsboro girls compete in the Class 3A tournament in Hutchinson and the Goessel boys travel to Hays for the Class 1A event.

We congratulate the Trojan and Bluebird players and coaches for what they’ve already accomplished and will cheer them on as they pursue their state-title dreams. Regardless of the outcome, both teams have enjoyed tremendous seasons that will live in their memories for the rest of their lives. You’ve represented yourselves and your respective schools with class. -DR

Good work, folks

While Hillsboro city leaders continue the search for a new city administrator, it’s worth noting that city staff have done a tremendous job of tending to the myriad tasks that keeps community life viable-from making drinking water, to hauling away trash to repairing streets…and so much more. We ought to do better at commending the efforts of our dedicated city employees. Truth is, we usually take them for granted until some out-of-the-ordinary event arises. Keep up the good work, folks. -DR
