Fern Frans-Palmer
Fern Frans-Palmer, 89, former owner and operator of the Burger Shake in Marion, died Feb. 20 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.
The service was held Feb. 23 at Marion Christian Church with Carl Helm officiating. Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 24, 1917, to William and Ellen (Zimmerman) Whisler in Indianianola, Neb. On April 25, 1937, she was married to Charles Frans, who died in 1980. On May 22, 1981, she was married to Delmer Palmer, who died in 1995.
She is survived by four sons, Bill Frans of Jacksonville, Fla., Roger Frans of Boulder, Colo., Myron Frans of Minneapolis, Minn., and Terry Frans of Abilene; a daughter, Bernadine Obermeyer of Eureka; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
John Walton
John S. Walton Jr., 66, insurance agent, died Feb. 20 in Topeka.
The service was held Feb. 23 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel.
He was born April 3, 1940, to John and Alletta Walton in San Antonio, Texas. He was married to Carole, who predeceased him.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie and Michael Horn of Olathe and Jennifer and Chris Young of Peabody; his mother, Alletta H. Walton-Keenan of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Sharron and Lew Crawford of Mesa; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City.
