Emergency personnel responded with care

I would like to let the people of Hillsboro know something I was witness to on Sunday, Feb. 11.

At a little after 5 p.m. I was returning home driving south on Kansas Highway 15 from Abilene when I saw a terrible accident. A semi-truck and car struck each other, sending the car off a bridge. The truck exploded in flames and crashed on the side of the road.

Miraculously, the driver of the truck was unhurt, but the man in the other vehicle was obviously in serious condition. Another witness dialed 911. Within minutes the fire department, police and ambulance were there.

I watched as these men quickly assessed the situation and took over from the bystanders who had gone to the aid of the injured man.

While medics did what they could, another group of men swiftly brought the flaming truck under control. The medical helicopter was brought in to take the injured man to the hospital.

I would just like to say that I was impressed with the speed and care in which our local heroes responded. Our small community should be thankful that we have such responsive and caring people watching over us.

I salute all of those from Hillsboro and the surrounding communities who put the safety of others first. Thank you.

Seek McDonald’s info elsewhere, please

Although I cherish the friendships and some memories that resulted from my job at McDonald’s, I ask that if you have questions about “why,” please direct them either to Dan D’Albini or Elizabeth D’Albini.

The only response I can give you is: We learned the night of our Christmas party, without notice, that the store had closed at 7 p.m. that evening.

Also, as another employee, please, if you have questions about forms or what to do with your uniforms, please contact the same people. I am not able to help you with anything.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
