ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Goessel High School will be one of 18 high schools in the state to receive the Governor’s Achievement Award for its accomplishments in academics.

John Fast, USD 411 Superintendent and high school principal, said he received word of the achievement last week.

To qualify for the award, he said, a school must:

have achieved the standard of excellence in both reading and mathematics for 2006

have made AYP in both reading and mathematics and one additional measure-for high schools it is graduation rate;

be in the top 5 percent of reading and mathematics scores in its respective category (elementary, middle or high school).

An official presentation of the award will be made at a date and time to be announced.
