Saturday night’s match with the Spires ended with the score decidedly in Tabor’s favor at 68-46.
The first half consisted of one colossal 35-14 run in Tabor’s favor, and the disparity between the teams was most obvious during an 11-0 run that spanned 5:47.
One of the highlights came at 13:06, when Donya Anderson drilled a 3-pointer off a feed from Kirsten Watson.
Tabor began the second half with 12-3 run, and the Bluejays sustained that level of scoring pressure for the first 9:46 of the half.
When Kirsten Watson made a pair of free throws at 10:14, Tabor led by 36, and head coach Rusty Allen opened up his bench.
Saint Mary played the Bluejays valiantly from that point on, and put together an 8-2 burst that grew into a 13-5 run.
At 5:43, Jenny Gaskell scored three straight baskets-all of which added to Anderson’s assist total.
Amanda McDonald went to the free throw line at 3:34 and gave Tabor a 28 point lead.
Anderson showed off the bredth and depth of her skill set against Saint Mary, and nearly had her second triple-double of the season.
In the second half, Anderson had a bead on a 3-pointer that would have finished her statistical masterpiece, but the shot rimmed out and the center finished 3-of-4 from the field with seven points to go with 18 rebounds, 12 assists and four blocked shots.
Despite the huge margin of victory, Tabor shot 3-pointers poorly as a team and finished 3-of-16 from beyond the arc.
But the team spent most of the night pushing the ball into the lane, and as a group made 21 of 34 2-point attempts.
Emily Vogts had 14 points, Nicole Ellis had 13 and Andrea Robinson scored 10.
