Saturday storm gently drops 8 inches of snow

The students used plastic containers to create building blocks out of the fine-packing snow.

One week after the area dodged a mean winter ice storm, Mother Nature dropped a gentle blanket of 6 to 8 inches of fluffy snow on the landscape. The snowfall caused its own set of problems for drivers and churches, but a good number of Hillsboro residents were out and about Sunday afternoon clearing sidewalks and enjoying a wet snow that was perfect for packing and piling. If snowmen were human, the town’s population would have been booming.
