New HHS chess team places third in first tournament

The newly formed Hillsboro High School chess team placed third out of 10 teams Saturday in its first interscholastic competition. The tournament was hosted by Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita. Senior Ben Bosworth earned a medal by placing 15th out of 52 competitors. The tea will compete again this Satrurday at Valley Center. Celebrating there accomplishment at Sunrise Academy are team members Jon Crouse, Ben Bosworth (holding trophy), Mat Brown, Justin Kent, Josh Elliott, Cody Blackketter, Zach Magnuson, Peter Bartel and Michael Christian.
