Groundbreaking in Goessel cancelled

Because of the extreme cold weather, the Jan. 17 groundbreaking for the Harvest Meadows housing development in Goessel has been cancelled.Special meeting Jan. 17 in Lincolnville

A special meeting to discuss penalties and fines related to the Lincolnville property maintenance code has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at Lincolnville City Hall, 218 W. Main.

Marion County Commissioner Dan Holub and Bobbi Strait of the county health and sanitation department will be in attendance.

Elk Days Jan. 20 at Maxwell refuge

Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, located six miles north of Canton, will kick off the viewing season for Rocky Mountain Elk with Elk Days Jan. 20 at the Friends of Maxwell Tour Center.

Activities will include an elk tour on an enclosed winter tram at 11 a.m. and noon and a lunch of chili, vegetable soup, relishes and pie from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Freewill donations will go toward the purchase of a life-sized elk statue for the tour center and other projects.

Free farmer’s market workshop Feb. 5

The Kansas Farmer’s Market Seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in Topeka.

The free workshop is for anyone interested in participating in farmer’s markets. Lunch costs $10 per person.

Ebenfeld youth fund-raiser Jan. 21

Due to church-service cancellation, the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren youth group has rescheduled its fund-raiser for Sunday, Jan. 21, following the morning worship service.

Potluck, concert at Aulne church

Jake Schmidt and the Journeymen will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Aulne Methodist Church.

A potluck supper will be held at 6 p.m.

The public is invited to attend.
