Barr places first at Herington for MHS

John Barr turned in Marion’s top performance at the Herington Invitational on Saturday. Barr’s 3-0 record earned him first place in the 152-pound weight class.

Two other Warriors placed among the top four: Dillon Wildin placed third at 130 pounds and Brad Klenda was fourth at 171.

Four other Warriors won at least one match but did not place.

Marion took both ends of a double dual at Hesston on Thursday. The Warriors beat Hesston 51-21 and Halstead 46-31.

Marion went 5-3 in matches decided on the mat, and the five wins came from Tyler Neil (135), Charlie Holub (140), Hank Collett (145), John Barr (152) and Brad Klenda (189).

Marion also picked up four forfeit wins against Hesston: Adam Regnier (125), Dillon Wildin (130), Andrew Regalado (171) and Doug Schroeder (275).

Oliver Whitney (112), Cody Wildin (119) and Ben Leppke (160) lost their matches.

Against Halstead, the Warriors went 4-4 in decisions and 4-2 in forfeits.

Tyler Neil (135), Charlie Holub (140) and Hank Collett (145) lost their matches.

John Barr (152), Dillon Wildin (130), Adam Regnier (125), and Cody Dillon (119) won forfeits for Marion.

Coming-Marion’s wrestlers will recognize some of their competition at the 21-team Halstead Invitational this weekend.

Action begins at 4 p.m. Friday and resumes at 9:30 a.m. Saturday
