ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Adviser Monica Leihy of the Hillsboro chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, along with members of Lenna Knoll’s third-grade class, proudly display several of the 160-plus teddy bears that Hillsboro schools donated Dec. 18 to Victory in the Valley in Wichita for first-time cancer patients. The chapter well exceeded its collecting goal of 80 bears from boxes at the Hillsboro Public Library and school offices. Hillsboro Elementary students, who were given teddy-bear stickers for every bear donated, collected the most bears among the sites. High-school students were granted $1 off of admission to the dance if they brought a bear.
