ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR
For the first time this season, the Hillsboro girls and boys won ballgames on the same night, taking a pair of games from Nickerson on Friday, Dec. 15, at Brown Gymnasium.

The girls slowly pulled away from the Panthers over the first three quarters, leading 15-10 after one, 23-18 at halftime and then 36-24 after three quarters.

JuliAnne Chisholm scored 22 points for the Trojans, who improved to 4-1 for the season.

The Hillsboro boys played a solid first half to build a 27-14 halftime margin, then endured through some ragged play in the second half to claim a 50-44 victory. The Panthers pulled to within 47-42 on a 3-pointer with 1:26 to go, but Hillsboro held the Panthers scoreless until they managed a meaningless bucket at the buzzer.

Lucas Hamm scored a game-high 19 points for Hillsboro, which improves to 2-3 with the win.
