ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Peabody-Burns schools recently received word it reached “Standard of Excellence” on state assessments in nine areas.
The standards are reached when students taking the tests earn high scores.
The district achieved the Standard of Excellence in third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade math; third-, sixth-, seventh-, eighth- and 11th-grade reading.
The levels that the state places students in by results are academic warning; approaches standard; meets standard; exceeds standard; and exemplary.
The number of students placed in each category is the determining factor of making Standard of Excellence as a grade level.
Last year, Peabody-Burns schools received Standard of Excellence in five out of 12 tests given. This year the district received nine Standard of Excellence awards out of 14 possible.
Last year the schools worked on an incentive program to help promote student achievement on state assessments. They are continuing that program this year.
