Checks totaling a record $11,400 were presented Saturday at Hillsboro State Bank from funds raised during this year’s Toy Run. Holding the checks they received are (from left) Wendy Steele, Community Christmas Angel Tree, Marion; Corey Miller, Goessel Ministerial Alliance; David Ragland, Association of Churches, Peabody; Steve Schroeder, Hillsboro Ministerial Alliance. Also on hand were: Kim Abrahams, second from right, Route 66 Classic Car Club; Ken Johnson holding bicycle and Ron Funk, third from right, members of Sons of the American Legion, Post 366, Hillsboro; and Rita Beisel, Abate District No. 9 of Kansas representing Mike Selcher, who was not able to attend. In addition to the money raised, 49 bicycles will be distributed to children around the county. According to Kim Abrahams the money is intended to go to the neediest families. The formula for dividing the funds distributed to each community is based upon the number of free lunches each school district provides to its students.
