The Hillsboro High School Scholar’s Bowl team competed in three meets recently.

HHS was one of 24 teams that competed Nov. 16 at Wichita Collegiate. The Trojan team members were Ben Bosworth, Daniel Berg, Mathew Brown, Sam Bookless and Cody Blackketter.

“We finished the day 2-3 against some tough competition, which included large schools in Wichita, so it was a good start,” said coach Stuart Holmes.

Thirty teams competed Nov. 28 in Hesston. HHS was represented by team members Cody Blackketter, Bookless and David Winter.

Hillsboro’s team placed 2-3.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, 18 teams competed at the Sterling meet where HHS finished 3-2. Team members for HHS were Brown, Peter Bartel, Bosworth and Bookless.

“The guys had a very competitive day,” said coach Holmes. “The team was a question or two versus Otis-Bison in going 4-1 on the day, which would have given us the possibility of being the wild card team that made the semifinals.

“The guys did a good job of being aggressive and buzzing in when they knew the answer as well as taking the time to communicate when the other team had buzzed in first and missed-both of these skills along with a good knowledge base lead to a good day.”‘
