Goessel High School’s Lisa Rohner (293) races for position near the start of the Class 1A girls’ state cross-country race Oct. 28 at Wamego. The Bluebird exchange student maintained first or second place for most of the 4-kilometer route before finishing third in a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds. Also winning a state medal was teammate Janessa Wedel, who placed 20th in 17:08. Their finishes helped propel Goessel to a second-place team finish with 65 points. Tribune won the title with 21. This was the first year Goessel qualified a team for the state meet.
