Peabody-Burns 6th-grader selected for JASON Project

Peabody-Burns sixth-grader Zachary Preheim has been selected to become a member of the Kansas JASON Argonaut Club, formed by Amy Strong at Wichita State University.

As a new component of the Kansas JASON Project and the Fairmount Center For Science and Mathematics Education, the club will meet with Kansas scientists throughout the year and study research questions with them and other argonauts.

Preheim applied for membership last spring and was interviewed as a candidate this fall at WSU.

“This is an honor not only for Zachary but for our school and district as well,” said Peabody-Burns Elementary School principal Ken Parry.

“Our mission is to encourage our students to strive for excellence, and being selected to become an argonaut certainly falls under this mission.”
