Clifton girl wins scholastic award

Alyssa Kieffer, 14, was named the Scholastic Record Award winner in the Miss Teen of Kansas Scholarship and Recognition Pageant held Aug. 11-13 in Manhattan.

Kieffer, daughter of Stephen and Paula Kieffer of Clifton, is the granddaughter of Gene and Beryl Steiner of Hillsboro.

The 38 contestants were scored in six areas of competition: scholastic record, achievement and service to school and community, personal development of talents, general written awareness test, personality projection and judge’s interview.

Miss Teen of Kansas, received a $1,000 cash scholarship, $1,000 educational bond, $250 grant to her high school and the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Teen of America.
