Surrounded by family, friends and Chamber of Commerce members, Paula Hayen (with scissors) prepares to cut the ceremonial ribbon that formally marks the opening of her Clayworks pottery shop at 111 1⁄2 E. Grand in Hillsboro. Her storefront will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Hayen will be creating custom-designed pieces.
