Goessel runners compete at SES

The Goessel High School cross-country teams competed at Southeast of Saline Sept. 19, where 15 Bluebirds runners finished the race and four girls team medaled.

Lisa Rohner (16 minutes, 32 seconds) led Goessel with a 10th-place finish in the upperclassmen race. Janessa Wedel (17:31) finished 23rd in the race for her medal.

Lindsey Wedel (19:04) finished fourth out of 27 underclassmen, and Sara Boman medaled with her sixth-place finish.

Freddie Noltenius (19:58) placed 13th place among underclassmen.

For the boys, Wade Wilson (19:42) paced the team by finishing 52nd. Anthony Esau (21:37, 87th) and Jake Schrag (22:35, 90th) also ran against 101 other runners in the upperclassmen race.

Martin Koppitz ran a team-best 5:54 mile, but did not finish.

Isaac Fast (22:19, 39th), Niklas Burkart (22:57, 47th), Chad Wedel (23:37, 57th), Sam Lehrman (23:42, 59th), Travis Duerksen (23:44, 60th), Derek Kruger (24:26, 72nd) and Matt Johnston (25:50, 83rd) all ran in the 90-runner underclassmen race.
