Centre volleyball 1-1 at White City

The Centre volleyball team split its games at the White City Invitational on Tuesday.

The Cougars lost to the home team 23-25, 25-27 but rallied to beat Flint Hills 18-25, 25-20, 25-14.

Megan Gutsch tallied five aces in the loss to White City and added seven more in the Cougars’ win over Flint Hills.

Alyssa Luna led the team with 11 kills-eight of which came in the win against Flint Hills-and Selena Seifert had 14 assists.

Alisha Barney had nine blocks to go with six kills and Kylie Burhoop turned in seven kills, one block and four aces for the night.

On Saturday, the varsity team traveled to Herington for an 8-team tournament, where the Cougars finished fourth in pool play.

The team was scheduled to host a triangular Sept. 26 and will travel to Hope on Oct. 3. Matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
