Peabody-Burns traveled to Bennington Friday night and defeated the home team, 42-12.

The victory gives the Warriors a two-game win streak after coach David Pickens’ squad crushed Inman 42-13 a week earlier.

On offense, running back Todd Woodruff took control of the game by scoring four touchdowns on 14 carries. One of Woodruff’s runs went for 37 yards; he averaged more than 13 yards per carry and totaled 185 rushing yards.

The Warrior defense came up with big plays by forcing five turnovers and returning two Bennington fumbles for touchdowns.

Cole Welsh picked up a loose ball and rumbled five yards for a score; Nick Abramowich returned a fumble 11 yards for six points.

Nathan Bishop was in on 10 tackles-eight solo-with three tackles for loss and forced two of Bennington’s three fumbles.

With the game all but over, Bennington scored twice in the second half, but were unable to convert following the touchdowns.

Fourth-quarter interceptions by Derrick Simmonds and Adam Benson closed out the game.

Peabody-Burns will play the 2005 Heart of America league champion Canton-Galva Eagles at 7 p.m. Friday in Peabody.
