The Hillsboro Golf Association held its annual senior golf tournaments Sept. 6-7.
It was the 32nd year for the men’s section and 16th for the women.
Pat Bartel of Hillsboro tied for second in the 50-59 age group on the women’s side by completing 18 holes in 93 strokes.
Bartel also won an award for striking the day’s closest shot to the pin when her ball fell on the green and stopped only 7 feet, 6 inches from the cup.
Elaine Sears of Abilene won the women’s tournament with her score of 84.
Ken Squires of Wichita won the men’s tournament with an 18-hole score of 72.
Jay Kimberly of Hillsboro finished first in the 60-64 age group and second overall with a score of 73.
Hillsboro resident Stan Utting tied for first place in the 55-59 age group with Ed Thiessen of Hesston. Utting and Thiessen both finished the course in 74 strokes.
Ken Johnson of Hillsboro shot a 77, good enough for second place in the 50-54 age group.
Max Terman, Hillsboro, shot a 78 and finished third among men aged 60-64.
Hillsboro resident Carl Long scored 86 and third place in the 65-69 age group.
The 99 golfers who participated in the two-day event included 23 Hillsboro residents and 76 who traveled from other towns.
