The Goessel High School cross country team opened its season with an Aug. 31 meet at Clearwater.
The race was two miles, and no team scores were tracked.
Senior exchange student Martin Koppitz led the Bluebirds with a finish time of 11:47.
Casey Wedel and Anthony Esau finished with times of 13:03 and 13:18, respectively.
On the girls’ team, senior and two-time state qualifier Janessa Wedel ran the course in 15 minutes with teammate Lindsey Wedel finishing 48 seconds behind.
Lisa Rohner ran the race in 14:01 and fellow exchange student Friederike Noltenius finished in 17 minutes.
