Small towns, big deals-Residents of Lincolnville and Burns deserve credit for accomplishing signific

We add our congratulations to the residents of Lincolnville and Burns for recent accomplishments that are worthy of fanfare.

In Lincolnville, area residents will celebrate the completion Sunday of a year-long effort to erect a new community center. Through a combination of state funding and considerable sweat equity, residents of northeastern Marion County have created an impressive facility that can host a wide variety of family, organizational and community events.

With its beautiful full kitchen, restrooms, storage room and large, open gathering area, this facility would be a prize in any community within our county-and any small town across the state. Residents ranging from elderly to school-age participated in the project and deserve their share of the commendations for a job extremely well done.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jerry Moran will recognize several years of hard work at the opposite end of Marion County when he presents the citizens of Burns with his “Building Better Communities” award. The variety of improvement projects successfully undertaken by the townsfolk is impressive. And there’s no reason to believe the effort will end anytime soon.

That Ramona residents were presented with the same award only a few months ago indicates that Marion County is still a place where hard-working people can still forge a hopeful future. -DR
