SENIOR SCRIBBLES

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Independence Day! Happy Fourth of July! . . .and bang went the fireworks! The week began by remembering some of the special times and events that occurred occurred when we were younger. Sarah Friesen, Betty Bernhardt, Ivan Nickel and Will Johnson shared in verse or story form some memories of the holiday.

Remembering earlier days and the cost of things, a video from KG&E titled “Making Your Home More Energy Efficient” was shown Wednesday. The video gave some simple tips about places to check and things to do to help curb costs.

We have had several new couples join us this week. They have been delightful to meet. One regular attender mentioned that the Hillsboro senior Center was one of the best kept “secrets” in town. This should not be! Let’s not keep it a secret anymore.

Everyone should know that the best place in town for a delicious noon meal is right here. Come in and “taste and see.” Just call ahead to let us know you are coming.

This week’s volunteers include the following:

Kitchen–Frieda Birkle, Lois Nuss, Irma Groening, JoAnn Faurot, Carol Ollenburger, Margaret Funk, Mariann Unruh and Velda Hiebert.

FISH driver–Elgin Bartel.
