Tonja Wienck, Hillsboro, received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation at Thursday’s Hillsboro Noon Lions Club meeting. On hand to present the award, which is the fourth highest in the Lions Club organization, was Ernest Young Jr., Lansing, who is a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs. Only six such awards were presented in Kansas this year and 8,000 in the international organization, he said. Wienck was honored for her work with Leo Clubs, the youth branch of the Lions organization. She has been co-adviser of the local Leo Club since its inception six years ago and has been an adviser on the district and state levels.
