Tabor College women’s basketball coach Rusty Allen commands the attention of athletes at the first Lady Jays Basketball Camp May 31 to June 2. Thirty-two campers who completed grades three to 11 participated in the camp. Participants hailed from Hillsboro, Hesston, Newton, El Dorado, Marion, Canton-Galva, Berean Academy and Remington. “I thought is went extremely well,” Allen said of the camp. “The attitude of the campers was really good and the staff we had assembled for the camp was very knowledgable and very passionate about the game.” Camp leaders included assistant coach Shawn Winters and current and former players Erica Hemmert, Jill Hein, Rachelle Wertenberger, Nicole Ellis and Kirsten Watson. “I thought we established our goals of teaching offensive and defensive fundamentals and modeling good, positive character for our campers,” Allen said. “We were very happy with the results.”
