Peabody-Burns student installed as state FFA v.p.

Leann Spinden of the Peabody-Burns FFA Chapter was installed as state FFA vice president during the state convention in Manhattan May 30 through June 2.

Spinden will now represent the 7,400 FFA members across Kansas.

“This is a huge honor for Leann and we are very proud of her,” said Sonja Roberts, PBHS FFS adviser. “This is the second state officer the Peabody chapter has had. The first was Bernard Hansen over 40 years ago.”

Chapter members attending the convention were Derek Benson, Jason Unruh, Jessica Gillet, Naomi Coe, Eric Buller, Stephanie Rempel, Christopher Brooks, Joe Zappone, Bayleigh Clark, Grant Buller and Priscilla Partridge, plus advisor Sonya Roberts and sponsor Rickey Roberts.

Members attended sessions and heard motivational speakers.

Jessica Gillett was recognized as a top-six finalist for Chapter FFA Scrapbook. Her scrapbook followed the theme of the National FFA, “Living to Serve.”

Stephanie Rempel, Bayleigh Clark and Grant Buller participated in the state FFA choir. They performed two concerts throughout the convention.

Derek Benson placed fifth in the state job interview career development event and placed fifth overall.
