Diane Claassen, owner of Quilts and QuiltRacks, Hillsboro, stands by a hand-made opportunity quilt on display at the store at 120 N. Main. Tickets for the wall hanging may be purchased at the store or from any member of the Country Stitchers Quilt Guild of Marion County. The hanging measures 28 inches by 26 inches. Tickets cost $1 for one or $5 for six. Proceeds will go toward quilt guild projects as well as speakers to help guild members improve their abilities. The guild will host the Quilts Across the Prairie 2006 Quilt Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Holy Family Activity Center at 415 N. Cedar Street in Marion. Up to 100 quilts will be on display at the event which will be part of Marion’s Chingawassa Days. The show will include a quilt boutique, vendors, a snack bar and door prizes. Admission is $3. “These quilt pieces are pieces of art that represent a lot of hard work by very talented people,” Claassen said.
