Goessel choir rated highly at Texas

The Goessel High School choir received the overall first runner-up trophy in the All-Texas Choir Festivals.

The GHS choir performed at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Irving, Texas, in April, finishing 0.8 of a point behind first place Clear Creek High School choir of Houston, which has an enrollment of 3,500 students.

“We showed the Texas folks what the small schools can do in the state of Kansas,” said director Greg Bontrager.

Goessel’s enrollment is 107 students.

Texas festivals were also held in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. The same three judged critiqued at all of the festivals to make the competition consistent.
