HHS FCCLA meets for awards luncheon

The Hillsboro High School FCCLA chapter held its annual awards luncheon April 27 and installed officers for 2006-07.

The following members were recognized for chapter achievements: Step One, April Young; Take Aim, April Young; Better You, Crystal Conner, Brittany Dies, Candice Ediger, Sarah Heidel, Evana Holtsclaw, Abi Humber, Kayla Letterman, Jake Liles, Kassidi Luthi, Rachelle Scott and April Young; Family Ties, Tasha Hoffner; Working on Working, Brittany Dies and Kayla Letterman; Speak out for FCCLA, Becky Steketee; Take the Lead, Kayla Letterman, Joshua Elliott and Becky Steketee.

Recognized for district Star events: Stephanie Abbott, Focus on Children, senior division (silver).

Recognized for national projects: Kayla Letterman, Take the Lead, senior division (silver) April Young, Creed Contest, junior division (gold).

Recognized for state Star event: April Young, Creed Contest, junior division (silver).

Special recognition went to Ben Steketee and Tom Leihy.

April Young received the High Point Award as the outstanding FCCLA member.

Elected as officers for the next school year were: Becky Steketee, president; Joshua Elliott, vice president of membership and Power of One; Kayla Letterman, vice president of Step One and Star events; Jayme Claassen, vice president of public relations; April Young, secretary; Brittany Davis, treasurer; and Ben Steketee, chapter parent.
