The Goessel powerlifters placed second at the Class 1A state championships April 22 at Bushton.
Quivira Heights won the title with 178 points; Goessel scored 145 points. More than 400 lifters participated.
Justin Fensky and Brian Meeks wontheir respective weight classes.
Fensky, competing in the 181-pound class, won all three of his events by lifting 295 in bench, 460 in squats and 305 in clean for a winning total of 1,060 pounds. His squat and clean marks established state records.
Meeks, at 198 pounds, hoisted 280 in bench (first), 400 in squat (fourth) and 285 in clean (first) for a winning total of 965.
Finishing second overall were Brett Goerzen (132) with a total weight of 660, Scott Ferguson (140) at 735 and Garrett Hiebert (173) at 820.
Travis Fensky (148) won an individual lift title, squating 350 pounds. Dustin Peterson (156) won the bench competition with a lift of 235.
