FFA wins contest

Hillsboro High School FFA members competed successfully at the South Central District Dairy Cattle Career Development Event held April 17 at the Marion County fairground in Hillsboro.

The contest had FFA members rank animals in classes of dairy cattle as well as take an exam over related topics.

The freshman team of Andy Klassen, Breanna Allen and Brandon Brown won its division. Others competing were David Winter, John Hein, Dakota Langley, Daniel Jost, Tyler Jones, Gabe Anderson, Isaac Leihy and CJ Shaw.

The A-team placings were Ty Goossen second in the district and Caleb Barkman fourth in the district. Alex Jost and Megan Daniels also competed.

Some 20 teams participated, involving about 110 students.
