The Tabor College softball team dropped a doubleheader to McPherson College on Saturday, 7-6 and 10-1.

Johannah Love pitched for Tabor in Game 1. In a see-saw affair, McPherson scored a pair of first inning runs, but Tabor answered with three in the home half of the inning as Stephanie Regrut, Love and Clancey Kelley scored for a 3-2 Tabor lead.

McPherson took a 4-3 lead in the third inning, but Tabor responded with three runs as Love, Stephanie Stuber and Kalie George all crossed home plate.

The Bulldogs added three runs in the fourth inning to go up 7-6 and held on for the victory.

Game 2 wasn’t as dramatic. George was on the mound for the Bluejays and allowed two runs in the first inning, three more in the second, one in the third and four more runs in the fifth for a 10-0 McPherson lead.

Only a Love triple and a Bulldog error enabled the Bluejays to avoid the shutout.

Southwestern-Tabor dropped a pair of games to league-leading Southwestern College on April 17, 3-0 and 7-5.

Behind the pitching of Johanna Love, the first game was scoreless until Southwestern strung together three hits that translated into three runs in the sixth inning.

Tabor had only three hits: two singles by Sara Thiessen and one by Stephanie Stuber.

In Game 2, George threw well but still absorbed the loss.

Tabor’s Jacqueline Schnell opened the game with a single and scored on a Thiessen single.

After the Builders took a 3-1 lead in the second inning, Tabor added a pair of runs in the third as Stuber and Kelley both singled and scored.

After Southwestern made it 4-3 in the fourth, the Bluejays took a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning when Thiessen and Jessica Appelhanz both singled and scored.

But Southwestern added the final three runs of the game to take the two-run victory.

Coming- Tabor now stands at 3-25-1 for the season and 2-12 in the KCAC. The Bluejays were scheduled to travel to Sterling on Tuesday before closing out the regular season Thursday in Hillsboro against the Newman Jets. Games begin at 5 p.m.
