HHS girls win state power lifting title

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Updated results indicate that the Hillsboro High School girls won the Class 3A state powerlifting meet April 1 at Marion.

Hillsboro had been ranked third initially with 23 points. But when an oversight was corrected, Hillsboro improved to 27 points, which vaulted the Trojans past Ellsworth with 24 points and Phillipsburg with 23.

Team points were awarded for top-six finishes in each weight division.

Rachelle Goldsby scored Hillsboro’s only first-place finish, Tiffany Knaak finished second, JuliAnne Chisholm and Audrey Ediger placed fourth in the respective divisions and Katelin Unruh finished sixth in hers.

Chisholm set a state record in the clean with a lift of 180 pounds, eclipsing the record set the previous year by Hillsboro’s Amy Duerksen.

Hillsboro’s Rachelle Goldsby and Marion’s Allie Maddox finished 1-2 in the girls’ 165-pound division of the state powerlifting tournament in Marion April 1.
