Goessel grade schoolers present ‘orphan train’ musical

Under the direction of Greg Bontrager, students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades performed the musical, which is based upon events indicative of the harsh conditions that existing in large eastern cities between 1855 and 1929. Five orphans were brought to the Bethel Hospital, Newton, by the “orphan train” to be adopted by Goessel families in 1929. A collection of non-perishable food items was accepted at the door and donated to the Goessel Food Pantry.
