Computer error adds wrong info to tax valuation

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
The 2006 valuation notices mailed March 31 by the Marion County Appraiser’s Office contain an advertent error.

The 2006 valuation is correct, but, because of a computer glitch that is being researched, the previous year’s value on the change-of-value notice reflects the 2004 property valuation, not the 2005 valuation.

Anyone wanting to know a property’s valuation for 2005 should contact the office at 620-382-3715 or 1-800-305-8851, and the information will be provided.

Also, property owners who wish to appeal the 2006 valuation have 30 days from the date the notices were mailed to schedule a hearing with the appraiser’s office.

The last day to call for an information appeal of the 2006 value is May 1.
