Area election results

Results of the Tuesday, April 4 election will bring several new faces to the Marion city council, funding for a new wellness center and swimming pool for Marion and incumbant victories in the Hillsboro city council election.

In Marion, Stacey T. Collett and Gene F. Winkler both received 519 votes, Bill R. Holdeman garnered 460 votes and Gerald (Jerry) Kline received 355 votes for positions on the Marion city council.

The proposed $8 million fine arts auditorium, gymnasium and wellness center received overwhelming support as 988 Marion/Florence School District patrons voted for the project while only 347 voted against.

In Hillsboro, a pair of incumbant city council members were unopposed on the ballot as Shelby Dirks received 53 votes in Ward 1 while Byron McCarty got 49 votes in Ward 2.
