The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is sponsoring the a running club beginning Monday, April 3.
Stuart Holmes, Hillsboro High School cross country coach and assistant track coach, will lead the club.
The purpose of the club is to help young people develop self-confidence and self-discipline within the structure of a fun, positive running club that emphasizes lifetime fitness.
The club will play games that promote fitness and do workouts three times a week.
Part of the spring session will be devoted to helping young people prepare for events such as the River Run in Wichita, the Hershey’s Track and Field Meet and the Family Festival Run in Hillsboro.
Club members can choose any or all of the practice times and competitive events.
All second-through-sixthgrade boys and girls are invited to join. Parents are welcome to attend and exercise while their children are participating.
The deadline to register is Monday, April 3.
The running club will meet on Monday from 6 p.m. to -7 p.m. at the Tabor College track, on Wednesday from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Hillsboro Elementary Field and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Tabor track.
Participants may choose to attend any or all of the sessions.
Cost of the Running Club is $10 which includes an official club t-shirt and insurance.
