ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Tabor College and the Hillsboro Recreation Commission will be sponsoring a youth soccer camp and league beginning in April.
Tabor College soccer coach Herb Wiebe will lead the camp along with Bluejay players.
The day-long camp, planned for April 8, is designed for first- through eighth-grade students and will focus on skill development and soccer strategy.
For league play, participants will be assigned a Tabor player as a coach who will further enhance development.
Parents may sign up students for either or both activities. A $15 discount applies per participant who chooses both activities.
All proceeds will go toward Tabor’s soccer programs.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch provided.
League dates are on Mondays and Tuesdays, April 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25. Divisions include coed 4-year-old/kindergarten, coed first to third grade, and coed fourth through sixth grade.
Activities will be at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.
Cost of the camp is $35, which includes a T-shirt, official Baden practice ball-a $15 value to be kept by participant-and lunch.
League play rates with a ball are $35; $30 without a ball. The cost to do both the camp and the league is $55 with a ball or $50 without one.
Entry deadline is March 31.
