Chelsea Malone, a senior at Ellinwood High School, has signed letters of intent to participate in the Tabor College women’s basketball and track and field programs next year.
According to Rusty Allen, women’s coach, Malone is an outstanding, quick and strong player.
“She does everything from shoot the three-point shot to post up,” he said.
Leading her team with an average of 17 points and six rebounds a game, the 5-foot-7 guard earned first-team All-Mid Central Activities Association League honors. She led her team to the Class 3A state tournament this past week.
“Chelsea has a great feel for the game and we anticipate her making an immediate impact on our team,” Allen said. “She is a great student and has outstanding character. It will be a privilege to add her to our team.”
Dave Kroeker, track and field coach, said Malone’s “athleticism and attitude toward competition will help us build a championship program. I’m excited that she has chosen Tabor to continue her athletic and academic career.”
Malone throws the javelin and was a 3A state qualifier in that event as well as the 400 meters.
