Peabody-Burns plans events to mark ‘Music In Schools’

Several events have been planned at Peabody-Burns schools to celebrate “Music In Our Schools Month.”

The Peabody-Burns Elementary School fifth- and sixth-grade bands will presenting a short concert at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, in the school gymnasium.

On Tuesday, March 7, junior high musicians will travel to Little River for the Heart of America League Music Festival. In addition to performances by the PBJH concert band and choir, students will perform solos and in ensembles.

At 7 p.m., Thursday, March 9, will be a junior high solo recital by the soloists from the HOAL Music Festival.

On Tuesday, March 14, the PBJH and PBHS concert bands will perform at 7 p.m. in the Brown Building Concert Hall.

The PBES second- and third-grade music classes will present a short program at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 17, in the PBES gymnasium. The second-grade students will perform original rhythm compositions and the third-graders will presenting the mini-musical “The Color Factory.”

PBHS Voices will be presenting a dinner theater at 6 p.m., Friday, March 17, at the PBES multi-purpose room.

Closing out the schedule will be the USD 398 Faculty-Staff Recital at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, at the Peabody United Methodist Church.

The public is invited to attend all of these events.

“Music In Our Schools” is sponsored by the Music Educators National Conference. This year’s theme is “Music: The Heart in Education.”
