Hillsboro teams to open sub-state on home court

The Hillsboro boys’ and girls’ teams will open sub-state play at Brown Gymnasium next week.

The boys, seeded third at 14-6, will play Hesston (No. 6, 8-12) at 7 p.m. Monday. Hillsboro has won two previous meetings with the Swathers this season.

The girls, seeded fourth at 11-9, will play Marion (No. 5, 6-14) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Hillsboro defeated the Warriors last month in their only previous encounter this season.

The rest of the opening round is as follows:


Halstead (No. 1, 15-5) will host Mission Valley (No. 8, 2-17)

Southeast of Saline (No. 4, 13-7) will host Northern Heights (No. 5, 12-7)

Osage City (No. 2, 14-5) will host Marion (No. 7, 6-14)

If Hillsboro defeats Hesston, the Trojans will play the winner of Osage City and Marion on Thursday at Hesston.


Osage City (No. 1, 18-1) will host Mission Valley (No. 8, 0-19)

Hesston (No. 2, 14-6) will host Halstead (No. 7, 5-15)

Northern Heights (No. 3, 11-8) will play Southeast of Saline (No. 6, 6-14)

The winner of the Hillsboro-Marion game will square off on Friday in Hesston against the winner of Osage City and Mission Valley.
