ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
The best spellers in Marion County schools gathered Thursday morning in the Marion City Auditorium for the annual county-wide spelling bee. Peabody-Burns seventh-grader Andrew Sheffler (top left) correctly spelled “antebellum” and “primal” to end a lengthy back-and-forth battle for first place with Goessel sixth-grader D’Ambra Kruger (top middle). Centre sixth-grader Mikael Antoszyk (top right) finished in third place after misspelling “puree.” Sheffler will represent Marion County at the All-Kansas Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 25, at Washburn University in Topeka.
