FCCLA students medal at district STAR events

Hillsboro freshman April Young will represent the school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter at the state level in April, after receiving a gold rating in the creed contest at the FCCLA District G Students Taking Action for Recognition events Feb. 1 in Newton.

Hillsboro’s Kayla Letterman and Stephanie Abbott each received a silver rating in the contest.

Erica Frederick and Samantha Pickens of Peabody-Burns FCCLA received a silver rating for their presentation on Internet blogging in the senior illustrated talk contest at the District G events.

Naomi Coe and Shelby Wilson received bronze medals for their entry in the senior chapter showcase manual contest. Coe and Wilson gave a speech to accompany their scrapbook of the chapter’s activities for the year.

Tabitha Carrell received a bronze medal for her speech in the senior creed contest.

Coe is also the District G vice president of membership for the 2006-07 school year.
