Girls and boys ages 8 through 18 are invited to participate in the youth shooting sports air rifle program beginning Sunday, Feb. 5, according to Rickey Roberts, Marion County extension agent.
The program is designed to help youth develop life skills, learn firearm safety and proper shooting techniques.
The class will be taught by Wayne Weber, a 4-H and National Rifle Association instructor.
The first class is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Marion VFW Hall and will run for six consecutive weeks, concluding March 12.
Participants are asked to bring a mat, blanket or sleeping bag to lay on while shooting.
Air rifles, safety glasses, ear protection, as well as pellets, targets and other class materials will be provided.
Cost of the class is $10 per student. Adults are encouraged to attend with their youth.
